"She was so used to being able to say anything that she'd forgotten how to hold her tongue." -YES! This totally resonates with me right now... things I took so for granted two months ago are now gross luxuries.

I'm really digging this book so far, and I love how nice the MC is to her little cousins, even though she's otherwise super cranky about her life. It reminds me to be a nicer person when I'm cranky. ;)

Loving the book so far - atmosphere, characters, mystery. I have NO IDEA where it's going, but I'm on board!

Padfoot ate my copy of this book, so it's on hold for a while.

Love this book so far! Love Etta and Sophie and Nicholas and the writing and of course time-travel, which is really the spice of my literary life.

I'm trying to read slowly so it lasts a while, but even when I'm not reading, I'm thinking about it, so there's that.

God, Hannah, your sentences: "Missing body parts were nothing to cry about and nothing to take too seriously." "There's something about a boy in a sky who has limits." Love this.

I'm so excited! I hope that the problems that showed up in the e-ARC a few weeks ago are gone now, and that's why I got approved on NetGalley. Otherwise, I'm going to put it on hold.

"But- and this was weird-she really seemed to think that everyone was the same, that the whole world had the same chances she did." This is not a heroic thing to admire about this girl, Seth. It's called privilege.

I kind of love that she's got the mechanical miniature horse sewing for her. This book is part-Cinder, part Victorian awesomeness. #steampunk

So, I am currently frustrated by Emma's complete disregard of the Hospice nurse and the author's general portrayal of a know-it-all Hospice nurse who inserts her opinions all over the place.

I was SO EXCITED to find this book at the library because it takes place in my beautiful city of Philadelphia at a major turning point in its history - the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1793. A mosquito buzzes in the room in the first paragraph and my heart breaks for the city and the narrator, Mattie, for the trial they are about to endure.

Rereading...because I saw the movie and it was terrible and I really remembered the book being better. And yes, Sage, I seem to be on a kick now.

Not very far yet, but so far, I hate the protagonist (who sure spends a lot of time recounting history for someone who supposedly "doesn't care") and hate the writing. Why does everything think this is such a great book?
