I’m not sure if I’m going to finish this book - it got too predictable and I didn’t like any of the characters except for the octopus. I agree with another review here, there are some chapters that are kind of pointless that don’t move the plot forward.

Well told biography of Salinger’s life from the tumult of his childhood in New York City, military boarding school, college and finding himself through his writing. He writes all through his time serving in WW2. Most interesting were the struggles with getting his short stories published. The character of Holden Caulfield takes shape in these stories and into the iconic protagonist in The Cacher in the Rye.
