Enjoying this so far overall, but not at all happy about the implied condoning of an older man employer treating his much younger female employee so viciously and brutally because he has had a "hard life" and is ostracised for his disability. He doesn't even redeem himself either, and she actually grieves his death! So sick of this constant implied condoning and apologism of disgusting behaviour everywhere I look.

Definitely enjoying this a lot more than The Swan Maid so far, so that is a relief!

I am enjoying this so far, I'm really intrigued and curious to find out what happens as there's several different storylines going on and eager to see what happens there! I have to say though that I worry the usual predictable rape incident will happen with the horrible Reginald towards Annie, with this happening in many of her novels, and his predatory feelings towards her are the usual signs building up to this.
