Started listening to this audiobook while at work and holy smokes I hate this guy. Just listening to his previous work before becoming president and constantly changing his mind/statements just made me annoyed. Just learning new things about himself and sentiment on the Middle East is kind of jarring to hear, and makes me regret not knowing about these things earlier in my life.

holy bombshell i didn’t think that would be her and for her to go like that. he goes into intersectionality (i think is the term i forgot) about not feeling fully accepted from both sides and just thought it was cool how i knew and learned about it already through anzaldua and borderlands. i’ve enjoyed his segments from his book a lot as well. i’ll see how it ends but i think it’s been worth my time

Hopped back on the horse, Cyrus saying he wants to be what America fear he can be sort of resonated with me (something like that in he writes in his story), got me thinking about what it really means to be a martyr, especially in today’s climate where everything looks like it’s getting worse and that we’re only going backwards, what’ll it take for us to move forward. pacers mentioned omg, liked the talks Cyrus and the MoMA lady had about martyrdom, related to how he felt when his teacher was joking about middle easterners thinking he’d find it funny and having to awkwardly go along with, I just find it crazy how people across all nationalities/ethnicities can be treated in a similar fashion when it comes to American sentiment.

idk how to feel about getting high and chopping wood but we all have fun our own ways, i like how it’s through the perspective of Zee and how he describes his ordeal with Cyrus and how Cyrus goes on to exaggerate what happened to his other friends.
