The man bridges the gap between reality and dreams with words, bridges the gap between stories and poems with magic.

...and with stone knives they sawed open their chests and drew out their palpitating hearts and offered them to the idols that were there, and they kicked the bodies down the steps, and the Indian butchers who were waiting below cut off the arms and feet and flayed the skin off the faces, and prepared afterwards like glove leather with the beards on, and kept those for the festivals when they celebrated dunken orgies

_Gazing on such wonderful sights, we did not know what to say, or whether what appeared before us was real, for on one side, on the land, there were great cities, and in the lake ever so many more, and the lake itself was crowded with canoes, and in the Causeway were many bridges at intervals, and in front of us stood the great City of Mexico, and we -- we did not even number four hundred soldiers!..._

Jared Moore is 5% done with Jack London's Tales of Adventure
Found this one in my library's for sale section for $1.50. It's one of many anthologys out there on Jack London, but this one is compiled by his nephew/literary executor and contains some cool stuff like "typhoon off the coast of Japan" written when he was a teenager for a newspaper contest and other autobiographical stuff not in his more known writings

Heart Of Darkness ✔️
It's a shame this one was written for a magazine in 3 parts, it easily could have and (in my opinion) should have been a 300 or 400 page book. But that's what paid the bills back then. The good news is that Apocalypse Now seems to have captured the shear insanity of the situation that Joseph Conrad perhaps failed to convey in totality with only 110 pages. 4 stars for Heart Of Darkness from me.

About half way through, seems to have mellowed out now into more "normal" writing describing these family's lives, but that first part was some seriously poetic mesmerizing almost hypnotic reading with mile long sentences most reminiscent stylistically of what I remember from "the death of virgil", it's a most odd combination of writings for a book

Mind---------->BLOWN, this has to be some of the most amazing writing I've ever experienced, truly otherworldly, just thought I'd throw that out there
