What’s the word for when you are so enthralled with a book that you don’t want to put it down, but you have responsibilities you must attend to, so you anxiously go about your day wondering when you’re next chance to read is? That’s where I’m at.

DNF. I did not make it to the end of this book and gave up reading it a long time ago. Great book for understanding how the child’s mind works and the WHY behind the more frustrating behaviors they exhibit. I think my biggest take away is identifying when the “lower brain” (survival and impulsive) part of the brain is coming out. My favorite quote from this book is “Do not negotiate with terrorists”

Emily Seaser is 17% done with The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Caused an Epidemic of Mental Illness
I feel like the first part of this book has been laying out evidence that the rise in mental illness in teens is caused by the phone/social media combo and not just correlations. Also it has covered some basic aspects of child development and our cultural shift away from play based childhoods. I feel like I’m learning a lot about myself in the processes of reading this book lol

Some notes so far:
Silence and solitude
-quieting the external noise is easy, quieting the internal noise is more difficult. Perhaps the external noise is just a distraction from the internal noise.
-solitude, not isolation.

I read Little women is high school and don’t remember it well. Figured it’d reread it while I wait for my other books to come in from the library.
