in order for a protagonist to work, they must be put in an environment that makes them seem like a hero. its not so much that I hate this protagonist, but its that the world that has been built around her, for her, is so ridiculously unrealistic that I then look down on her for existing in that world. all of which is the fault of the author.

I fucking hate this protagonist (and the world she’s surrounded in)

almost done. its interesting at times and has a handful of provocative quotes, but the bulk body feels like bouncing vaguely from topic to topic with minimal in depth conversation.

he’s getting to more anecdote based innovation here which i like but the first half of the book are really boring

I do kind of want to read more books on this topic, but this specific book is kind of boring af right now :(

a bit boring. I want to learn about the fun quirks of specific items but rn hes just teaching me about human logic and psychology, as a science.

I think shakespeare is stupid. like, the man, because the relationship build up between benedick and beatrice is fucking stupid and heavy handed. I know its old but it is the epitome of “tell not show”. the only scenes they have before their huge love confession they are actively negging each other with no reason for us to think they are Good for each other.

the art is beautiful

a bit repetitive at times, too much of “this science has a lot to offer about our world” and then not truly diving deep into examples. maybe thats the stem in me, or the memory of paved paradise but I would like example after example, case study after case study. right now it feels a bit too much like one person’s journey
