almost finished and all i want to say is this book has exhausted me from start to finish, it’s like stepping into someone’s mind who has trauma, especially abuse with a partner, and walking around the timeline of events in their perspectives. reading how one interaction goes only to see how Strane makes it seem, his gaslighting, elitism, how he is a textbook abuser to the point it becomes sickening to read

Stranes ability to change the story and protect himself while leaving Vanessa out to the wolves is so disgusting to read, the gaslighting and manipulation how condescending he is. I hate him, I wish Vanessa would finally break herself free from this man but the hold he has on her I get it, it takes work and therapy. Ruby is well aware of Vanessa having PTSD and the accurate portrayal of a victim is amazing

everything about this book is devastating and perfect, Vanessa reminds me so much of what people view as an imperfect character or victim it makes me emotional, to see symptoms of hypersexuality and PTSD in such a young character as well as her older self allows for readers to witness a transformation or evolution of healing and the work it takes to realize abuse. everything about this book ruins me oh my goodness

had to take a break from reading, Strane is truly disgusting and evil. how Vanessa feels about not being a victim or how she rewrites what happened between her, at 16, and a middle aged man!! the depictions of rape and how Vanessa second guesses herself so much, the whole book feels like a process of healing that had been stewing for years

This book is psychological horror. The insidious way Strane manipulates Vanessa to push the idea that she isn’t a victim that he didn’t hurt her. The way he desperately tries to make sure even when she is an adult and should identify how awful the relationship was between them that she still thinks of herself as willing how he tries to cover up his abuse as love. How perfect and complex Vanessa’s victimhood is

Can’t believe I’m putting myself through this book again but I guess it’s a part of a sick and twisted healing journey in some way

Josh and Aly’s engagement party was amazing, Lo knowing Josh and getting closer with Aly ;). Josh and Junior talking about how to escape the mob so they can be happy with their girls. And the smut, oh Gods it’s amazing especially spicy this time. And perfectly paired with humor. I just wish Lo would stop questioning Juniors love for her, and now that she knows what he did to her dad it’s gonna go to shit quick

Lenore’s want for more and the suppression of that hunger to be the perfect wife or woman is something extremely relatable and reading as she finds more of Henry’s dark side and manipulative behavior as he ruins Lenore’s life being the primary factor to push her closer off the edge of perfection and into her most desperate desires has been amazing to read, and Carmilla there to support her? Perfection

Still as cringey as I remembered it. The comparisons of the movie and book is something I always try to notice but what is pointed out the most to me is how Edward fits in as being a human with his siblings compared to movie Edward along with how Bella has a much better and more obvious? Personality compared to the movie where she seemed bland and bored all the time. One of my favorite fall favs to read

Absolutely love this book. Obsessed with Junior and Lo it’s obvious they both have some stuff to work out but the feelings they have for eachother is so undeniable and I love their back and forth sarcasm mixed perfectly with the smut and kinks. And the Josh and Aly cameo!!! Love how obsessed and in love with eachother they are and the adoration they have for eachother. Ik Lauren and her friends would love Aly

Been reading without updating how far I have gotten but the split perspective of after Berkleys time in the institution and during her time is so interesting. It becomes increasingly obvious there is more to the story of how she ended up there with Sophia that we are slowly learning, there’s hints in how Mara and Harper are awful friends and how she only mentions good moments with Tayla not the bad. Love it sm

Making progress on this book and I am really loving it, the accurate (a bit dramatic) description of being in a mental hospital all the strange rules and how people talk to you and treat you after. Trying to uncover the mystery Berkley has and what Sofias plan is, she has gotten so much creepier since we last saw her. I also feel like this small Italian town is going to have some corruption just below the surface

Forgot how much I love this series and so glad I remembered. Such an amazingly spicy and hilarious book with the perfect amount of plot to it so I don’t feel like I’m just reading smut without reason or narrative. Want to hear more about how Aly and Josh are doing but also know that a few mentions could only happen. This book is definitely going to be my new obsession

Love the slow burn of the book, the relationship between Lenore and Carmilla is a slow drawl that keeps pulling you in. The way you can see Lenore desperately want out of the life built for her and yet she is so used to it she questions if she should abandon Henry and her duties to live beautifully or stick to what she has always known. I feel as if her desire to be loved completely will lead her down a darker path

Finished! Once you get into the grit of the story it’s a much better book, subtle with the horror element until you get to the climax and that’s where it really gets gory. It’s an amazing origin story for the series and explains so much as to how Brooklyn got possessed just took me a second read to truly appreciate the story and narrative being told but once I did I was obsessed and couldn’t put it down

Entering the climax of the story and I am hooked on this book despite originally thinking it wasn’t as good as the others. The story pulls you in to then drop bomb after bomb of twists and horror. I was getting bored reading but once I got connected with the characters it was a much better book. Knowing Brooklyn from the previous books makes it a surprise seeing her in this book as she slowly descends into madness

Have been reading this book and didn’t notice I haven’t updated my progress of it. To compare it to the other books in the series this one is slow to getting to the horror aspect paired with a sub genre of religious horror focusing on mega churches and Baptist/evangelical horror it can be a long read to some especially if you want a book that dives into the grit of the story- also the stepcest is a lil odd

I am in love with the dark gothic aesthetic of the book and how the setting in the moors reminds me so much of Wuthering Heights. Lenore represents what a lot of women went through during the early 1900s and reading the expectations of this woman while she riddles herself with anxiety and insecurity of her reputation truly has me rooting that Carmilla will help her let go as she slowly unravels Lenore more🕷️

Currently rereading for preparation to read her sequel Mate! So excited to get my hands on the newest book of the series

We’re entering the spicy moments of the book, it’s such a cute nd erotic book for autumn. Wish Hazel and Noah would finally just admit they’re falling for each other. PLEASE Hazel just stop questioning yourself, let go of any anxiety about if you are or aren’t in deserving of Noahs love. And Noah needs to stop questioning himself and his abilities!! It’s definitely Noah leaving the clues to🧶🍁🍪

Lowkey better than the first book, love the pacing so far and the reoccurring characters as we dive deeper into Dream Harbor and the people who live in it. Love a good opposites attract story with mostly fluff, and a good age gap??? Loving it so far and only have read a little bit but I can’t wait for more.🍁🧣🍎

Been slowly making my way through but I love it so far, a great sequel and it being set in a catholic school with religious imagery has me hoping we see some more religious horror in this book besides just the bit we got in the first, it’s obvious to me atleast that Vega really went in deep with the spirituality this time around compared to the first with its more subtle elements of Catholicism🍁🔮
