Ahh, the author missed a home run opportunity to connect how cult mentality and our desire to fit in with the collective can be a very slippery slope. The author also missed calling the behaviour of believing the collective over the answer we believe is correct what it is: gaslighting.

Enjoying so far. I do hope the author speaks to AA though. AA contradicts the authors idea around identity. In AA you begin with identifying as an alcoholic; however, this process actually sets the stage for a system of consistent accountability and habit changes to gain or maintain sobriety.
