Read through ch 1

Beginning of chapter 13, and I know they’re trying to press upon us for the quadrillionth time how otherworldly St Anthony is, but the language is so flowery and mythological sounding, and has been repeated in even the same words so many times, that it sours and takes away from instead of edifying the reader and uplifting the Saint. I’m considering DNF.

I must say I love reading each of the POVs for the various characters (Arya, Jon, and Tyrion are always interesting, Bran too) but I despise reading Theon’s POV because he is such an egotistical womanizer (and a brat). I know his character arc already, but it remains difficult.

Happy to finally meet Brienne.

Martin’s descriptions of scenes and characters are magnificent.

Determined to finish this even if the way its written tires me.

Language is quite… Im not sure if flowery is the word, but its a very romanticized take of St Anthony’s life for sure.

Got this book maybe three or four years ago and never read it. Decided that I will.
