The first part concerns freedom and unfreedom: sovereignity and the unpredicability it entails. It makes a point of how damaging to personal freedom social media can be. There is a how, not a why - a thought that I found insightful. Productivity is the same way; what virtue comes from being effective and efficient?

I really like the notion of negative and positive freedoms. It allows me to reconcile the individual’s right to self-expression with the idea of service to the public. Freedom, and democracy, is work upon a foundation- not a single life’s work.
