I've been reading it for close to a year. My French reading skill and comprehension leave something to be desired. As long as I'm progressing and understand the basic story, I figure my French will improve. Crazy story line.

A good read so far. It's amazing how, in war, the best people rise to the top and the worst crawl out of the dark holes they normally inhabit.

Pierre gets you right down in the trenches, complete with rats, lice, mud, cold, suffering and random death and survival. Packed with first hand accounts from men who were there, this easy reading work is a page turner all the way through. Highly recommend.
