honestly i hate that the second half of the book only follows Frodo, Sam and Gollum. The first half of the book was so good compared to this constant talk of being lost, finding a way into Mordor and Gollum yapping his evil bs now....over it

this is veryyyy philosophical, but i like it so far

this book brings out the absolute history nerd in me. currently reading the chapter on magic in prehistoric europe (= stonehenge) and i am INTO IT.
also shoutout to my guy King Arthur who somehow made it into this chapter, i expected to read about the lad later on in the chapter of medieval and early modern europe...not complaining though

the chapter on ancient Chinese magic is SO interesting so far, 10/10

I am sooo excited for this one, finally some non-fiction again

only 100 pages left, i don't want this to be over... also, sidenote: i would be terrible in space.

his memory is starting to come back fast and i'm scared for *that* part :/ other than that, still 10/10

dr. grace finally met rocky!!!! love how the book mentions so much more details of the alien species than is mentioned in the movie.

i love how easily written this is. it's like you're inside Dr. Grace's head, and following his train of thoughts step by step. makes the amount of physics and chemistry involved a lot easier to understand and it doesn't feel like reading a paper on rocket science. love it

every month i tell myself i need to read more, and every month i end up reading LESS than before -.-

anyway, i am back at this book and i'm LOVING it. 240 pages in and not a single kiss; this is how you do slow burn romance!
