I started this book years ago and it has never left me. There are some books you know are 5 stars without needing to finish it, and this is one of them. Impeccable writing, superb capture of history, and deeply immersive. When my to-do list isn’t so long, this is where you will find me.

There is so much to say about this book and yet, nothing need be said. It is a hoot and a holler and that is all you need to know until you open it up. Kathryn Stockett will do the rest.

I am so wildly impressed by how much this novel has captivated my attention. I am only 4 chapters in (thereabouts) and am already so enthralled by the characters, concept, and writing style. I can be quite the literary critic, so it feels so exciting to simply sit back and enjoy the ride. Will update as I progress!

This book is so delicious, I'm so intrigued. While overall challenging to read due to its varying dialects, it employs a uniqueness and control over literary craft that you can't help but push through, getting to the meat of it all. A recommended read for sure!

I have been deeply captivated by Verghese’s writing. He utilizes his medical background to expertly craft action and incidents into his novel, benefiting the reader with vivid detail and an outlet to learn about the body. It is a story of generations and how each new wave experiences life. A slow and riveting read.
