Loving this. Reads like an old epic. This book contains a lot of notes explaining the names and lore. I imagine I will be doing more research and returning to some of the stories. The first one about Tuor’s journey to Gondolin has me wanting to research more significance of these people and places. I imagine I’ll need to read Silmarillion next.

First chapter was a delight. Reading the books provides such a greater insight to the characters depth. Denethor isn’t as foolish as he is portrayed in the movies. Tolkien describes him as being on par with Gandalf’s wisdom and power. Cunning and insightful. I also enjoyed Beregond’s part in this story. I feel like the movies made Gondor out to be a cold and unwelcoming place for Pippin but that is not the case
