I'm gonna have to re-borrow this. I want to finish it bc the premise is so fun but a lot of the pieces seem overly complicated and rushed.

Dudeeeee I'm almost done and this is soo good. I wish I'd posted more updates along the way. Have been hauling this big ass hardcover book everywhere I go .

Deeply horny, full of fabulous imagery, yearning, and what can only be described as stubborn misunderstandings

Might have to dnf. Cute and fluffy but there are minor inconsistencies and "too-tropey" moments that take me out.

Semi-spoilers:
- magic is illegal for common folk to do AND she's never done it so she hides her magic books but also randomly decides she's going to ...sell spells to townsfolk but "will call them remedies"? Idk
- he says "not everyone likes merhorses" + she says "well I'm not everyone" *eye roll*

Assuming this is a translation (haven't checked) but I'm not loving the writing/ translation. Language is weirdly simplistic in a way i do not find particularly compelling and does not overcome the premise (which is cool)

Holy war crimes batman

Loved the first quarter. Rin is driven and intense and a struggles and fights for what she wants.
Then it gets weird and it really feels like a different book. Not digging the vibe switch tbh.

Welp it was fun but now it's gotten stupid

Loving it except for I'm at the part where Abdullah really dislikes the two fat women and compares their fatness to the slimness of his crush.
Other than that I'm really enjoying the whimsy. I'm all about some good whimsy.

This is a delightful book. Whimsical and silly and fun.

Actively rolling my eyes while reading this book and am worried they're going to get stuck that way
