Nox is on page 129 of 390 of Lessons in Chemistry

Elizabeth Zott might be my favourite (human) character in a while. Six-Thirty the Dog is in contention with Marcellus the Octopus (Remarkably Bright Creatures) for best non-human.

The overall writing and wry humour make me both want to race to the finish and drag out reading to enjoy it longer.
