This book is the story of the famous aviator who informed the world that the North Vietnamese were torturing the prisoners of war. Just read past when he got captured

These were the last stories of the book, and the first one was of a kid who had his dad killed in action in Iraq. One quote was really sad. When asked what his advice to other military kids is he simply said "I don't know, I'm not a military kid anymore." The other was from a story of a soldier who served in Iraq and protested the war when he got back because he thought that the occupation was unjust.

The kids that have parents that are in an active warzone always have a question on if their parents killed anybody. This section was a kid who learned that their parents had to kill several people from a helicopter. They had a lower opinion and disgust for the war even though they said that they understand that sometimes you have to kill to survive in war.

One thing that I noticed so far is that the children of military families are more mature for their age. Without their parents with them, they are forced to do things that kids don't do for many years.

This book is different military children talking about their own lives, so ethos is definitely present. The kids also appeal emotionally because they express the different emotions they are feeling, like missing their parent, an example of pathos. For logos, some kids argued for and against the war in the middle east, with facts, displaying logos

This part of the book was military kids reacting to anti war protests. Most of the time, they are mad at the people that mean to them or the soldiers.

This section was the children speculating as to the horrors that their parents went through. Questioning if their parents had killed anyone and if so, why. These questions can have a very negative affect on the children of military parents.

This part of the book was informational about the effects of having a parent in a war on their children. Trauma can extend to every member of a soldiers family.

This section of the book had older kids that could understand why their dad or mom was gone. Often they had to comfort their other parent and their younger siblings. Not a lot of attention is drawn to the families of people serving in the armed forces

Most of the children in this book that I've read so far have been too young to understand what the military is doing overseas, but they do understand that they have one or both parents missing and possibly in danger.

This book is a collection of stories of children who have parents in the military. They find it hard to understand why they can't see their parents who have been deployed.

Susannah is back to work full time. She is sharing her experience and being contacted by many people who had the same experience. Most of those people were misdiagnosed.

Susannah is getting back to normal. She is well enough to be self-conscious , worrying about what people think of her. She is back to limited work as a reporter.

Susannah is getting better in her interactions with others, especially her parents. Her brain is undergoing a process called cortical remapping. Her dad cleaned up her old apartment and she will live with her mother.

Susannah was sent home with the treatments and weekly doctors visits. She is growing frustrated with not being able to do basic functions or having social skills.

Most of what I read today was a very informative style, giving the reader context to understand how the doctors and Susannah parents felt at the time.

Susannah had a brain biopsy, and the doctors found out that she has an autoimmune infection of her own immune system attacking her brain. They are getting closer to a diagnosis

I am very much in the story telling part of the book and do not have the full picture yet, however, I would say that the purpose of this book is to show that in your darkest hour, only the people who truly care about you will stick with you through it.

Suzannah had her first non-family visitors. She tried to appear normal for her friends, but was left drained. She got blood tests back, but they say there is nothing wrong with her.

My character is a reporter for the New York Times. She licked her job before her episodes of psychosis. I don't know yet if she will return to it at the end of the book.

Susannah was visited by many doctors in an epilepsy ward. She was very frantic and paranoid, fighting with the doctors. They think she might be experiencing the after effects from her seziures

Susannah had multiple outbursts that made no sense. She is beginning to push her relatives away. They are still caring for her, but she is increasingly hostile

Susannah was taken in by her parents, and went to see a psychiatrist. She thinks she has Bi-polar disorder. I just stopped when she collapsed in her parents living room

Susannah had her first seziure, and the ended up in a hospital.

Like the book, I think I will continue with it.
