I hate that the "fresh, energetic voice" means this is told in first person, present POV, which I cannot stand, especially in fantasy. It's a limited POV and that's why I think it feels like there's not a whole lot of world-building here, since we can only see what Auris sees.

There are no words for how utterly in love I am with this book at this point.

I've read A LOT of books about witchcraft in the last few years and this is easily one of my favorites already. Solidly in my top 3. I wish I'd had this book when I had the first inkling that I might be looking for something more.
