I don’t care less for MCs pining for each other in endless lengthy inner monologues. I just want to see some action. Doesn’t this suppose to be a treasure hunting story? Stop flirting, get working! You have boxes of lost gold on sea floor to find!!!!!

I didn’t understand the language in first 10-20 pages. I read words, but the meaning failed to form. By 14% I was completely bored out of my mind.

This is a debut novel?????? Lady, you captured me as your most loyal reader from now on.

I’ve read some really bad dark rom-cons so I avoid this genre as far as possible. But now I see it’s not the genre but the bad writing

I like Stillhouse Lake better. The romance here feels forced. It could’ve been a straightforward thriller instead of a romantic suspense.

Why?! There are so many plot holes! I’m only third into the book.

I haven’t meet (even in my real life) a more incompetent and dumber translator. What a translator intercepted a formal conversation because she heard a word she didn’t know? Naivety and innocence does not equate to stupidity and frivolity. I don’t see what the hero saw in her.

The heroine seems dumb and vain

Is it that two different authors co-write this book? The first and the second halves feel drastically different.

Disappointing change of character

Refreshing heroine personality, of 300+ romance I’ve read, this is the most interesting character

Everything happened, as if nothing happened. The first half of the book feels like a silent film, no sound, no human voices, just screen images. You have to be in a quiet mood to read this or else you’ll be as impatiently agitated as me😅

There should be a meta analysis on gender ratio of pets, especially cats, of heroines in general fiction. I don’t have any issue with male cats just wondering why it’s always a male cat.

A little bit cheesy for a romantic suspense

This is the most boring historical romance I’ve ever read.

It’s both cringy and heartbreaking to see another teenager daughter despising her mother and team-father.

Hey, how dare you be angry with your unaware mother when she’s cooking waffle for the whole family by the hearth, be grateful!!

When will romance author put effort in characterizing female villain even if she’s not a lead? Why can’t you be more imaginative and innovative?

Repetitive. You can really condense two books into one standalone.
