This feels like a second draft rather than a final manuscript. The passage of time is jarring and everything so far feels pretty surface level, like the author wanted to come back and flesh things out, but never did. Like, I just got to the first steamy scene and Sophie has been adamant about keeping personal and professional separate. We hear nothing of her inner thoughts on why she decided to go for it.

These characters feel so flat to me. I’m just bored, tbh. Idk if I’m going to finish or not.

I’m getting The Hating Game vibes if they were friends instead of enemies and I love it.

There are slow burns and then there’s THIS. I’m genuinely annoyed with Sarah Adams for taking advantage of my attention span.

This is my first Lisa Unger book. It’s not bad, but she needs a thesaurus. Some of her repeated words and phrases make it sound like she was watching Schitt’s Creek while she wrote this and was really impressed with Moira Rose’s vocabulary.

Dear Lisa, here are some fun synonyms for “assignation”: tryst, dalliance, rendezvous, affair.

I’m on chapter 7 and so far, Heidi and her mom are annoying AF. Not cute or endearing. I hope this gets better.

This will most likely be a DNF for me. I had really high hopes, especially for how much I enjoyed Into the Darkest Corner, so I'm bummed that it's so boring! I'm listening to the audiobook and even though the narrator is doing a good job, I can barely keep my eyes open.

So far, not understanding the hype. It's overly detailed with tech talk that makes me want to go to sleep. I don't know if I'll keep reading this one or not.

I am really struggling to finish this one. Lena isn't an interesting character and I'm not really invested in her relationship with Alex. I guess dystopian romances just aren't my thing.
