Sweet, sweet escapism. I love getting lost in the series. Shout out to Libby for freeing this book up for me right on time!

Listening to this so it feels w it’d to put it in the “Currently Reading” category, but I guess it counts. Also, this is my first audiobook and it’s not putting me to sleep like I assumed it would?

Crazy opening credits btw - I’m intrigued.

Can’t put this down. We already knew President Obama was that guy; but reading about the contemplation it took for him to become the man he is today is inspiring and v relevant to my life at the moment. I’m in the second part of the book now, learning about his start organizing in Chicago (can’t wait for the Michelle section!).

Very excited about this one. His pre-president perspective is more honest than I was expecting and refreshingly relatable. Barry has always been insightful, introspective, and super intelligent. Really enjoying reading his voice frozen in time.

This book was published in 1993, but it’s based in the years 2024-the 2030s. It’s kind of mind-blowing reading about the collapse of the country from this perspective…especially now. There are so many literal and metaphorical changes in this book that have already come to fruition in these current times.

This is also my first Octavia Butler novel and I absolutely see what the hype is about.

This series is keeping me on my toessss and I’m living for it. I’ve been trying really hard not to compare it to ACOTAR, but atp I’m just relieved that Tahir has committed to the plot as much as the characters.
