Not sure why this book is not connecting for me. I’m such a fan of R.S.S Rodriguez’s work. Trying not to tuck it away as a DNF. Think I’m going to do my best to finish

I am and will always be a huge fan of Warsan Shires work. Admittedly, it is not for everyone. But the raw, poignant and captivating way she describes her lived experiences…the way she unravels the complexities of girlhood and wading into womanhood and the cutting reality of it being an alternate universe for a black woman is…both heartbreaking and strangely comforting. I grieve and I celebrate each time I read.

Cutting and raw…honest and angsty. Dark and relatable… Pungent and poetic. A tunneled trip down the dark and sharp edges of the aftermath of mental and emotional health at our lowest. All of the events were familiar. THis book offers you a close up of the fragility and slow burn of hope deferred.

Morgan is finished with I, MEDUSA: The Testament Of A Gorgon (Unwritten Myths)
I am still processing this book. I feel that the story and the writing held so much promise. There were moments where I began to feel myself ache for Medusa. But this was an emotion that never evolved - that was stopped short by my heightened awareness of the redundancies, the over descriptive writing style, the repetition in expression. Could have been so much more. Ai is a tool; however, it holds no pulse. 3 stars.

Before I finish this book I feel inclined to document my thoughts so far. My love of Medusa is what caused me to select this book. However, the writing style experienced while reading this book felt like a roller coaster. This book reads with the heaviness & longing ache of mythology but without the sense of familiarity and warmth that we feel. So many parts read like AI. So many. And it is a shame…
