Just finished ‘On Self Respect’. And if I learned anything I’m not gonna even say “would recommend” because this is almost 60 years old, and if not for the outdated energy that makes the “coolness” of the second or third to last paragraphs a little stale, this is one of my favorite essays so far.

This book is oddly serene for all the chaos and turmoil that ensues. Love the specific section of garden of earthly delights on the Arcade publishing cover, entirely too fitting for the story. Idk if I’d read again like Dead Stars, but loved the interconnectedness and the overarching Bruce Wagner universe elements. this book is also hilarious in a fucked up way which BW is master at.

Writing is absolutely captivating

There’s no other writer like OF, very biting as always and flagrantly suspenseful I’m just in awe trying to make myself not read this all in one go but it’s one of her most page turning
