Apparently I keep reading all the bits except the parts where Kendi potentially equates folks being 'racist' towards whites with white folks being racist. Reverse racism isn't possible! Other than that, I really appreciate Kendi's quasi-memoir project, as he's putting forward an example of interrogating one's own beliefs and internalized biases. This book is a powerful gift - thank you Mr Kendi.

3 stories down, thankfully tons more to go! So far we've been in futurist dystopia, a magically-realized plantation past, and a sparse yet mystical desert. Each story has been wildly different in tone and content, but all deliver on the promised black girl magic. The world needs these heroines!

I am loving this book, and X, the heroine! I can tell this is a powerful one for girls coming-of-age and chafing against stifling strictures and expectations. I can't wait for X to step wholly into her curvy-strong, full-voiced, brown girl power.
