So far a 2 out of 5. This novel is trying to be so much... it feels so intentional. It's trying to be a romance story, a feminist novel, a mystery, a period drama... Also why does both Tata and Ettie has nick names but not joseph? It feels like a writing exercise where the author is applying whatever she learnt to the same story...

not a big fan so far...

it's like the author imagined what a quirky 20 something year old would be like and just piled up all the quirky traits on this one character...

I'm impressed! Love it so far!
Having read Never Let Me Go by Ishiguro, I'm impressed by the range of his writing. The interior monologue of Stevens depicts so vividly a great butler who possesses "dignity".

I also really appreciate the fact that there are no useless sentences in this book so far. Everything is concise.

Can't wait to finish it and watch the movie! The cast of the movie looks promising
