I'm definitely not enjoying Joy Dettman's style of writing for this book. The story is good, although it's the worst Joy Dettman book I have read.

This started good, halfway through, it became totally unbelievable.

I'm enjoying listening as an audiobook, from the Booker long list. IMO, it's better than the winner Orbital!

You lost me Melina when the wedding plans were underway for the town on the Dawson .Believed to be Theodore. The guests flew in to Quilpie. Obviously didn't do your research!!

It's all over the place like a mad woman's....... hopefully someone can make a movie out of it and sort it out for me. Because I loved belcanto so much I thought it would be good but it's not.

Loving that that this is narrated in Ned Kelly's own voice. It's quite authentic with his own uneducated narration.

And only now we find out Mary is a half cast. Her father is a warrior. Brought up by the tribe, she doesn't mention her white heritage. A bit odd not even referring to her whiteness.

Listening on Audiobook. Oh please Leah. Don't swap between the 3rd & 1st person. It's not professional. Also your Molly Johnson voice is ideal. But you should have employed an English speaking narrator for the other English character.

Very easy listening as an audio book. Enjoying it.

O m g. What a joke!!! Listening to this on audiobook. Narration is by an English narrator, but he cannot do an Australian accent. I keep hearing an New Zealand accent. How painful. Who is responsible for this? the publishers? or the author? It's woeful. I will finish to the end because I do want to know what the story.

Very off-putting listening on audiobook. Probably just as bad in print. The reason is :- it is written in 2 dialogues. It swaps between each person's story every few sentences. Ugh. I'd like just one narrator for at least two minutes. Grr

Really enjoying this sequel. I have watched Netflix & sad it didn't stick to the story. The story is great without deviation.

I'm not really liking this. But I will persevere as I'm sure she gets rescued.

I'm disappointed with the audiobook. I can't get my head around the American orator. Colleen McCullough was still alive at the time of this recording so its pathetic that an American was chosen to tell a purely Australian Story. Added to that her Australian accent is dreadful!! The author describes "kangas". FFS, no one calls them anything but kangaroos or Roos. Still loving the story, 40 years since my first read.

Can't stand this so we're not listening to anymore Lee Child short stories. Not going to finish this book either
