some of the details are a little superfluous. there’s a scene where jamie is grabbing the hippo plush from the trunk, but the author also includes jamie grabbing the handgun in the trunk, making sure its safety is on, and stuffing it in the back of his jeans. it’s unnecessary because he never even uses the handgun in that or scene or soon thereafter.
