I’m definitely finishing this book but I’m remembering why I didn’t finish this series. It’s an easy read, but does not portray trauma and living with Complex PTSD accurately. The positive side of that is that I can read it without being triggered, but sometimes when I’m reading their inner dialogue it pulls me out of the story because of how off it is.

So far I wish this book was only from Margot’s POV. I am enjoying her chapters of the book. Even now having a better idea of Krissy’s head space it still feels manufactured, which being a fictional book it obviously is, but it shouldn’t read that way!

So far Kristy’s chapters are the hardest to read. They read from the perspective of someone who has never been through what they’re writing about, just how they think someone would feel. This viewpoint ends up feeling slightly off, almost like you’re wearing 3d glasses, but looking at a regular picture.

Before reading this book I was a bit nervous it would trigger my anxiety, but I’m pleasantly surprised. So far the book reads more like a mystery book than thriller or suspense, which is exactly what I was hoping for!

So she chose to take her gods power and become so like the enemy she was trying to destroy?! To stop seeing them as people, even the children and other innocent people … 😬 that’s a choice I guess 🫠

Well, I was wrong, the enemy is definitely worse! Although, I don’t like the empress. Maybe this trilogy will end with a new ruler, someone who won’t leave their people to be tortured!!

If Nezha is a shaman, and hiding it maybe it is because of his father’s position. Being a shaman in their culture is looked down upon and misunderstood, with his father being a warlord maybe he couldn’t rule after his father if people knew.

The further I get in this book the more I wonder if this is written from the villain’s perspective.

What do I need to do to get my local library to have a book or treat?!

Stef and Jeremiah will likely be the next book! I have mixed feelings about if I want to be right, because who doesn’t enjoy being correct, but also, it’s so clear it’s annoying

Ok, so I liked how she introduced Stef, and while there were better ways to bring up Jeremiah’s sexual orientation, I wonder if they get together in the next book?

Im enjoying the book, outside of when she introduces new characters. I think I might just not like the amount of information she gives, like why do I need to know that Jeremiah is bi, and his parents are accepting of it, but not his grandmother??

I have heard such good things about this book, I’m 100% going to finish it, but so far I’m not loving it. I get that Tina is supposed to be the villain of the story, but it’s so over the top. Like saying her schedule was flipped when she was a baby?! She was a BABY!!!
