Read this with my housemates, I've never been more tingled in my life. Truly an incomparable experience. Especially loved the line "Fuck yeah, stroke that ancient apex predator surgeon cock", this was a work of masterful poetry. Literally speechless

Kind of iffy on some points ngl, for example the claim that Fantasy as a popular fiction genre is firmly rooted in and shaped by the US and UK. This might be the case for Western fantasy, but our Fantasy just manifests differently, Instead of Tolkien, East Asia, for example, had the Chinese classic "Journey to The West" since the 16th century and there are many contemporary works not influenced by Western Fantasy

Zhongli Qian asked carefully. “He wanted to use force to unify the cultivation world, killing anyone who defies Xuanyuan Sect and eliminating the sects that participated in the attack on you.”

Wenren È really hadn’t been aware, as the book only said Yin Hanjiang wanted to kill Hè Wenzhao. After some thought, he chuckled. “He does have ambition.”

MATCHING EACH OTHERS FREAK AHHHHHHH

“Yin Hanjiang! I ain’t fucking your grandma! If we survive this, I’ll fucking fuck you, you just wait!”

BAHAHAH this book is hilarious so far, I love how it subverts the tropes of Chinese Cultivation novels! The characters are also likeable (aside from Hè Wenzhao, FUCK HIM), I was very surprised how the author even gave the female characters distinct personalities!!!

"I did it for my family's honor, officer."
"I have disgraced my family, and now I must pay the price."
"Without face, I have nothing."
"Honor means everything in my culture. You... wouldn't understand."

Actually CACKLING BECAUSE THIS SO TRUE, I HATE HOW REAL THIS IS. Every time an Asian character says these sentences in a movie, you can hear 50 ancestral generations collectively weep and turn in their graves
