Seemingly the book is all about Elio’s father Samuel and his infatuation with a much younger lady named Miranda. I’m going to try to do finish it this or next week and give a review.

The amount of pain that hides behind this beautiful cover. Joan tells her story of dealing with two types of grief. One being the death of her husband, the other one being the illness of her child. Joan’s writing is so beautiful and puts you as the reader in a place of grief. I found it particularly interesting how she writes about the difference between grieving a parent and a partner.

I’m only 26 pages in to the book and I’m thinking about DNFing it. The book is so hard to read because it goes against all of mine and society’s morals and norms. I also feel as though the writing is trying to make Humbert’s thoughts and actions seem like an ethical dilemma when it (in my opinion) is not. It’s wrong on every level.
