I’m awfully afraid of death, listening to Have A Nice Life while reading the last parts of this grieved book probably wasn’t the best idea.

This book only starts getting decent from the halfway mark, around page 30. Some of the quotes/philosophy in this book is beautiful, but there are not enough for me to give it more stars. After reading this love story which I was falsely led to believe was about vampires, I only have there things to say about the characters.
MC is bi.
Felipe is gay.
Olalla is lovely.

I only give this there stars instead of two because of the last third of the story and the fact that it reminds me of The Yellow Wallpaper and how this is how I imagine the husband’s perspective to be.

I’m a bit more sympathetic for him now because of his unfortunate but deserved past and how he literally refuses to be a good person despite knowing that everyone despises him. It is still very bland, though.

It’s really quite odd how I’m gliding through this story with my slim sliver of interest.

At page 22, the book is quite bleak as well as bland, like Notes From Underground. And the main character is infuriatingly egotistical and misogynistic as well as pretentious, but even with this, it is still holding my attention at least. I think it will get better from here
