Of course the Polish edition of The Core had to be divided into two books. The second book starts when the plot clearly thickens before the 'big fight', and I find myself scared to continue reading. I have a feeling that this will definitely not end well, someone's gonna die and who knows what happens in the Core. I'm so glad Peter already wrote sequels, because I'm not ready to say goodbye to Arlen and Co.

Wow, Lem plays with the Polish language in such an intelligent way that I often found myself in awe of how he created a world, so similar to ours, and yet cosmically different. Not to mention that his vision of the future is grotesque, insane in a way, and yet completely believable.

The last chapter. It's late, and I need to get up in the morning but I can't put this book away - the last time I was so entranced by the book was when reading Wind and Truth, and I almost wish that I would never finish it.

Wow, a woman in a fantasy is having a period? That doesn't happen often. Joe, you had my attention and now you have my respect (not only for that, I don't think I've ever read such a well-led and fast-paced book. Usually there's more room for a breath, but I don't feel like this story needs it. Battles are described with a perfect tempo, both bigger and smaller - I'm hooked.

Also, King Fynn - that's my man!

The book is brutally honest about the state of the world we're currently living in. It's refreshing, and at the same time disappointing (in terms of the world, not the book). I think I needed that, and I wonder why I haven't read it sooner, since it was sitting on my bookshelf for some time now.

Such a peaceful book

I've only watched the TV series and I can already see that the book differs so much! A lot more conversations between Claire and Jamie, their chemistry is portrayed much better (not that it was poor in the series), and we learn a lot more about the characters! Can't wait to read the rest

Do I sense a love triangle?


Okay, maybe love is not the correct feeling - seems way too simple, but anyway, as usual: what is going on? What. Is. Going. On???

The next journey has started. Even after 42 pages I know more than I knew when finishing the Way of Kings, which is definitely a progress!!!

I can't stop reading!! Although I find myself wishing for Kaladin's chapters more than Shallan's for example. Dalinar's perspective is very intriguing and more focused on the mysterious history of Roshar, but I can't stop thinking about Kaladin!!!!!

That one is a chonker

I love it when I read a trope that fits "the scene of a gang planning out a heist" feeling, in this case Sarene figuring out a way to help out with The Boys (similarly to Kelsier's gang's meet-ups or Marasi, Wayne and Waxillium's brainstorming sessions in Mistborn).

Also, ancient teleportation in Elantris, nice.
