I was really enjoying how atmospheric this book is, set in a castle, lots of nostalgia, all that jazz but then came across the line, “A feeling known only to men. A feeling called friendship.” ????????????? Offended.

I see why Olga Tokarcuzuk wrote the afterword and I also see where she got all of her inspo for the MC of Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead…

Highly recommend reading the preface—was crying by the end of it (perhaps because of my aspiring writer status).
