Ahhh, not really light reading for the summer, but my copy of Outpost arrived in the mail last week and I'm glad to have something so engaging.

I had to return it to the library and didn't have enough time to finish due to work. D'oh!

Dang it, I was in the middle of the six party talks and then wham, I had to go back to teaching for the school year and I haven't been able to pick the book up again.

I'm not finding the description of the book, (funny), apt. The book is getting sadder and sadder, especially since the character, as part of his depressive affect maybe, seems so two dimensional or static. He narrates his life, but it's just an account of events. Even when he describes his feelings, his struggles, it's more of a cataloging of facts than an expression of emotion. He's not a sympathetic character.
