How to know your novel is Irish (apart from the OBVIOUS Irish slang):
Search for dark humour.
Don’t forget to look for misery.
And you are most likely to find stubbornness, and also a tiny bit of spite.
There you have an authentic Irish novel ! (And you might as well very much like it, from what you understand of it!)
