There is a family tree in the front of this book. I saw it and was like ‘that’s cute’ and didn’t think much of it.


Now, I refer to this family tree at least once a chapter. It is the one thing keeping my sanity together.

This book is a feminist retelling inspired by The Magic Mountain. I think I’m missing a lot of the nuance and depth because I haven’t read the story…

The book is still fairly enjoyable. It has an atmosphere kind of like The Secret History by Donna Tartt, but make it pretty-WWI, and full of sick people. There are also really cool sections narrated by this mysterious being and I want to know what it is!!!

I just finished the titular short story - it started out quite funny and ended kind of sad, but I couldn’t get over how absurd it all was!

I'm so confused right now. Not only am I confused about what is happening in the play (or if anything is happening), my feelings move from 'this is great' to confusion to 'this is terrible' very quickly.

Lucky's speech was so confusing I almost stopped reading.
