“Whatever has begun to harden in us is still soft in that apartment.”

already so locked in with this because (despite the difference in setting), this is the first book that has made me feel Seen for my experience in shelters. whether that be foster care or the ymca or the crash pads you get chucked in, this is the first book where the people feel like People, and where change feels Real. and i am emotional already. so emotional. hope indeed <3

these are objectively terrible books with terrible writing yet for some reason… for some reason i come back to them every time i need a pick me up. save me ryan prive save me.

read a lot of heavy book recently, it’s time to return to my beloved ahead of season two <33

another rec from sean, we shall see how this one goes!

“Being wanted became a hunger. A rash that itched the more he scratched, though he was still waiting for it to feel as pleasurable as others made it sound.”

“I was trying not to die at that point. I was doing what I needed to do to live - and that was transitioning, that was HRT, that was trans healthcare, and that was the choice I felt I had.”

ion page 1 and the 15 year old hockey player inside of me is already weeping - “It was a vivid point of no return.”

“they just want us to consume, i will not just consume i want to live”
