So good!!! Is Kritika sure this is her debut novel? 😄 She writes so confidently, I feel like I’m in safe experienced hands. The characters are equal parts relatable and infuriating. Although there’s miscommunication it’s not wielded like a trope, the MCs distrust & inability to reveal their truth rings authentic. Currently trying to slow my roll as I’m devouring it too quickly. Need to savour

Lovely prose & cadence, it just flows. MMC- typical grumpy genius & zero social skills... Tbf he's being harassed by a god of corruption which would make me a little cranky too. FMC- smart, capable... occasionally runs her mouth then panics...its beautiful but I'm glad she's not a fiery smartalec (yet), it wouldn't make sense with her background but I hope that changes as her confidence grows. Get him girl!

Beautiful prose. Very atmospheric. My only complaint - the plot meanders but time & place jump around. I love a meandering character / vibes driven plot when I can relax into a cosy read. And I love a challenging story that jumps around with a complex plot or a mystery to solve. My brain wants to relax into this story but everytime it time jumps I'm left a bit discombobulated. At this stage I'd prefer it pick a lane

Am I Dnf'ing or just leaving it until later? Who knows, not me. I'm so close to the end but I don't think I care enough to bother. I'm going to start The Night Circus instead. Maybe I'll be in the right mood to come back and check this one off at some point. Not sure what mood that would be though.

Finishing out of spite at this point. Assumed it was an indy authors 1st outing but it turns out she's a bestselling author who's had multiple works traditionally published so ... brutal honesty seems appropriate. It's bad... it's so bad! Her website FAQs on "Craft" claim she wrote it in 2 weeks, and doesn't follow a writing process, which tracks. She should probably look up the definition of craft though.

Ehhh, it's ok. Lacks world, character & relationship building. Cringy dialogue eg: "If this is madness, drown me in it" 🤮 Not much plot, just insta-lust, some crows, she hears voices, he is "mysterious" (we know because they tell us, not because he behaves in a particularly mysterious manner). There are gothic elements but the vibe feels more Vampire Diaries than Interview with a Vampire.

Ehhh, it's fine, I'll keep going. Currently debating whether I continue with the audiobook so I can do other things while I finish it... Or switch to KU so I can finish it quicker. Not much building of worlds, or characters, or relationships. Not much going on at all really, just insta-lust, cringy dialogue, there's crows & a voice in her head & people occasionally disappear. That's it, you're all caught up
