I really liked this quote from this book:
“Secede culturally from the mainstream. Turn off the tv. Put the phones away. Read books. Play games. Make music. Feast with your neighbors. It is not enough to avoid what is bad; you must embrace what is good…We are a minority now, so let’s be a creative one, offering warm, living, light-filled alternatives to a world that is growing cold, dead, and dark.” p228

So far this story has been enjoyable! I don’t think Rama, the main character, deserves all the adoration he gets—he’s not that great in my opinion—but I do think that how he handles the turn-of-events with such grace is admirable, and the sweet relationships he has with his brothers is inspiring.

I’m indifferent right now. I don’t find the stories even remotely interesting in this book.
Maybe I just don’t like books about boats? Every year for the past three years of high school I’ve read a book about a boat for geography, and I’ve hated them all! 😂🤷‍♀️

I think this book is a case of “it’s not you, it’s me.” It’s not very enjoyable because everything is flying right over my head. If someone asked me what has happened so far, I wouldn’t be able to tell them! 🙈
