I cry

I don’t blame the consul for getting lost in Kassad’s story. Jesus Christ.

Schuster draws the line between simulation of truth and belief systems. He argues that humans are operating on a foundation of built-in programming, under the control of new programs we have acquired through evolution. While he is careful to remind you to watch your disbeliefs, as they are merely another form of belief, you are challenged to blindly follow Schuster down his rabbit hole of reality and the self.

Such a well-written female narrator that I have no problem living vicariously through. She’s interesting, self-aware, observant, dependent, and so far from perfect. I was a little thrown off at the “climax” just because the style of writing, dialogue, and tone shifted so much and it felt a bit like the author was not as experienced with non sfw writing…

Metzinger et al.’s ability to describe the phenomenon-self model, consciousness, the Ego, and the external world model in a way that is “easily” understandable to the layman is incredible. By page 15 he has already broken down our understanding of consciousness and the ways in which we cease to experience the external world every night.
