Es überrascht ein wenig, wie unterhaltsam dieses Buch ist. Im Endeffekt ist es jeweils ein Rezept zu einem japanischen Gericht mit ein bisschen Geschichte rundherum. Aber ... somehow ... it works?

I like it - but I have the feeling that instead of being just good, this could be a great book, if only it wasn't such a ... mess? The characters are really likeable, the magic system is very imaginative, there seems to be quite a bit of depth to the world-building ... I don't know how to explain it, but the plot feels a bit like if the first three Harry Potter books had been compressed into one.
