Thoughts have jumped from one to another very suddenly so far. The narrator just jumps through ideas as if they are the character, and apparently this is called free indirect discourse. I wonder if this is a comparison to what Zelu said about how her students' writing is just one sentence to the next without correlation to each other. Or I think in this chapter, the flow is kind of like a stream of consciousness.
