Mariá the final star on the debt ceiling. No one could have predicted it.

I drank most juices in PR because of the lack of safe water.

Puerto Rico defeated the US Navy in May 12, 1898. El Morro still held up after almost 300 years of standing, and it still does.

November 9, 1897, Puerto Rico gained the rights of a Spanish citizen. The right to vote for males over 25, and a form of an autonomous government associated with the Spanish Crown.

Most important event in Puerto Rico’s fight for independence was the assassination of the Spanish Prime Minister Cánovas de Castillo. It is kind of sad to think that one year later they would go back to a government style of the 1700s.

Puerto Rico’s first Constitution in 1812, La Pepa. Was taken down by the Spanish Crown after it gained back control from napoleonic France.

Don Miguel Enríquez, probably the richest man in the Americas in his day. A descendent of a slave, his grandma, free black mother. His “paternal” relatives never claim to be relatives, but his father, a clergyman, helped reduce his sentence, when in prison. This helps him rise to such immense power for three decades.
