I think we all have a deep seated primal fear of spiders. Im no different from the average person. I will admitting that I didn't want to spend time reading about evolving intelligent arachnids. I am really glad I bit down on this streak of interspecies prejudice that surface within me and allowed myself to take on Children of time. Fantastic read so far!!!!

Solid piece of writing. I like the uncluttered writing style of the author. Telling a story for the pleasure of the telling, pacing is spot on, entertainment value high. Some times thats what you need, reading that transports you a way, a thrilling yarn to separate you from the dull world of work that you inhabit, to pay the man!!!

Nicely played Mr scott!!!!!

If you like fu@k@ng cyber punk, swety b@llocks, sex thrown into the script, of a science fiction novel, written like a shades of grey, spin off then this is going to get your goat god, (it's in the book). Swearing, I don't mind it in books, I don't find it a persuasive why to move plot, but if it character driven no foal.

So far I'm enjoying it, it has a 80s feel to the writing.!!!

Hamilton is pulling a blinder on this one.

Different threads move though the book, chase scenes, space battles, the use of basic nuclear weapons, then everything is flipped on its head when Aliens of almost God like powers turn up.

No spoilers here, I'm just trying to give you length and breath of the book, so that you can consider how well a roller coaster ride can be put together, by an accomplished writer.

I love space opera. Hamilton is a master at them. I think I have read most of his full novels and my familarity with his universe's allows me to enjoy this second instalment of the Fallers tale with without missing a step. Bring it on!

Note to the human race.

Reading this book has awoken me to the fact that if we every come across a technologically advanced alien race and they are endowed with an exoskeleton. We are going to be in deep trouble.

Looking like something they should eat is not going to impress them in the slightest, in fact any meaningful dialogue is going to take a serious knock as they consider restock their larders with us.

I have read many of Neal Asher books and I am well versed in the worlds he has created, so its with a gladden hart that I can wholeheartedly endorse this start to a new storyline in his ever expanding Universe.

This is a very good trilogy, its just a shame that the last one in the series lost maybe a smidgen of pace, seeing a the first two were so solid.

This is so much slower than the first book that raced a head at a brake neck pace.

Its good stuff never the less just not the immediate gratification of the buzz of Neuxs.
