DNF. So incredibly boring. I trudged through for 5.5 hours on audiobook and knew I didn’t what it takes to finish this book. It is a LONG book, with “this happened, then this happened, then this happened.” The characters are all unlikable and forgettable. Life is uncertain and I certainly won’t be spending more life moments on this drudgery.

My third time reading. A sweeping novel spanning over 50 years, artfully flowing from 1920s China to 1980s America. Navigating complicated, heartbreaking, and beautiful mother daughter relationships, colored by culture, society, customs, traditions, and wisdom. A must read.

A unique, excellent read. What is it to be human?
