lowkey gotten 40% of this last chapter. i do not like that the book took this turn, i wish Jurgis’ story was actually concluded in these last few chapters.

decent chapter. I liked the plot but then (like usual in this part of the book) it took another political turn but I actually understood and liked this one the most and I can understand how it made the book so popular in the 1900’s

Okay well Chapter 4 was a pretty good and interesting chapter. I might have to take back what I said, but I feel like hooked enough on this book and it’s so short that I feel like I can finish it all in like a day or 2. all I know is I don’t mind reading another chapter.

so i finished chapter 3, the book is okay i guess. I think i’ll try to finish it as fast as i can, but i’m skeptical of how great it can be if the book is so short and I haven’t really read anything super great yet.

I decided to finally crack open this book, and the first chapter was good. very descriptive. i’m hooked.

this is too much. even little Antanas died? what the fuck.

Might get searched and caught rn but the end of chapter twenty caught me off guard, I was actually getting a little bored of Jurgis finding himself a new, good job and then have it end in an instant, just like it had probably felt for Jurgis.

fairly decent chapter, i still wish she had won.

this story was the most upsetting. frogs betrayal, and toads humiliation. it was too much to bare.

these final parts of this chapter on russians was truly unbearable. so fucking boring. zoned out through all of it. didn’t give a fuck.

I knew that Ona was going to get raped, but I did not know Jurgis would beat her rapist like that. This was an extremely sad chapter.

honestly i’m trying to get through this book, this chapter on the russian interference is interesting enough for me to maintain attention. still though i kinda wish this book was more interesting, i wanna know the behind the scenes drama and i feel like that’s been lacking. also, i wish some of these 400 pages were filled with pictures instead of boring political rambling.

i read quite a bit and it’s alright. kinda interesting.

well i really like this book so far. it’s very sad indeed and yk i feel like ive read the worst of it
