Like going through a dense bog. Flashes of brilliance here and there of clarity but then gets back to total head scratcher where you wonder if there was a better way Hegel could have communicated his ideas. No doubts on his brilliance and how this text branched to towards modern Western philosophy. Would love to finish this before December 2026 (and I’ve been reading this on and off since April of 2026).

It’s like this man thought I would come to exist in his vantage point as the future while I look back on his writing as if he is the past but the meeting point is the now in which I continue to read his work. Freaky way how meaning through temporality works.

Must read in order to even understand Hegel’s PoS. Less of a slog to go through in order to elucidate Hegel’s work but still lots of passages where I also find myself still scratching my head (and ironically, Hyppolite is a far better writer of Hegel than Hegel is of his own work).
