Hilarious listen. Insights and rants on many of the annoying things women have to deal with - like bras, high heels, childbirth, trying to be perfect - complete with a British accent and plenty of slang. This book was a treat - but I can see why it annoys so many who take “feminism” - and life - so seriously.

Joe Morton’s reading of this book is outstanding, and the only thing that got me through it. This book is considered a classic that revolutionized American literature, which is why I forced myself to finish it. I found it overwrought and depressing on so many levels, including the fact that things have not changed much politically, racially and socially in all theses years since “Invisible Man” was published.

I love this book. I had to stop reading for a day because I did not want it to end.

I have read this little book twice and am now listening to an audiobook. It’s really a lovely way of looking at things - a philosophy, perhaps - and of getting out from under too much stuff. I have found much that is useful each read.

Not enough grandmother.

Chapter 2 and I give up! Narration by a sultry female voice of a male book is just too much to take, especially when added to the “I excelled in my chosen fields, made enough money for life, went everywhere in the world and had every wonderful experience, so now I can relax, not think about anything and live in the moment” attitude. Perhaps it’s just the wrong time for me for this book.

I received this book as a Giveaway, which is good, because the formatting does not work well in my Kindle app. The pages are tiny and almost impossible to read. From what I actually have been able to read, the information is clear and useful. Very disappointed. It will take me ages to finish this book.

An interesting tale set in the times when the serfs of Russia were granted their freedom, such as it was. Incredible tribulations and privation.
