chapter 1 done. Michelle Zauner is a beautiful writer. i hope my future essays can match.

regarding chapter 1, it’s very easy for me to connect with Zauner due to having an Asian mother as well and having the same experiences in the 超市 of memphis. She mentions she gets sometimes angry when seeing elderly women due to her mother’s untimely death. it makes me wonder how i would react in the same situation.

Kurtz-Phelan manages a ton of sources masterfully and includes text from both sides (Nationalist and Communist), which gives the book another dimension and keeps it from pushing one side's narrative.

Cannot help but feel MC deserves minimal sympathy as he doesn’t not step in during the trial of the innocent.

I finished the assigned reading for the week. Dreading next week.
